What Does the RAM 1500 Locking Rear Differential Do?

While off-roading on gravel, dirt, sand, or any other harsh surface, we recommend our RAM 1500 drivers to use their available Locking Rear Differential. The Locking Rear Differential in the RAM 1500 allows the wheels to spin at an equal rate. This helps your RAM 1500 to have improved handling at low speeds during extreme off-roading situations where one wheel is likely not to be in contact with the ground.

To lock your rear axle, simply press the button and the button will flash until the axle is locked. When your RAM 1500 is in 4-Wheel Drive Low, the locker will be engaged up to 40 mph. For all other driving modes, the locker will be engaged up to 20 mph. If you exceed this speed, the locker will unlock, and once you go back under the speed, the lock will re-engage. This feature of the new RAM 1500 makes this popular pickup truck reliable and safe for all trips.
